PositivityNOW NLP has a reputation for delivering strong NLP training courses, combining interesting facts with inspiring experiences. It’s all about NLP, but in a realistic, down-to-earth, anything-goes atmosphere.

I think that a a lot has been said about NLP, much of it useful, some it it rubbish. I try always to bring NLP in a relevant, applicable manner, with humor and spontaneity. To me NLP is a toolbox, and a very useful one at that.

The tools contained within an NLP training course deliver results. For example, improved communication. I am constantly reminded about how many differences there are between people. The one is chasing a goal, the other is waiting for a signal to change. The one makes up his own mind, the other needs feedback and compliments. The one is empathetic, the other hard as nails. These elements all play a role in our attempts to connect with one another and, because we are human, we are always trying to connect with each other. For one reason or another.

With the application of a little attention there is so much information to be gleaned from just listening and watching other people. To my mind there really isn’t a very good reason for not being able to communicate well with one another. And yet, it remains tricky. Mostly because we focus on ourselves too much. We think too much. We assume too much. We notice too little.

Take a look at this and ask yourself what you see.

Most people see a square. Did you? If you did, then look again because it’s really an illusion! It’s a great example of what your brain does to provide you with meaning. It “fills in the gaps”. Because we take in so much information, your brain has to work really fast to provide you with the useful bits: the “best of”, if you like. This effect means that we are constantly “filling in” information and this process is what makes, for example, communicating with other people complicated.

NLP provides useful, and easy to learn, tips for listening, observing and learning to discern what is your “shit” and what “shit” belongs to the other. In the end it’s not about “shit-flinging” but more about getting clear and being able to work with the “shit” you get.

Because, one thing is for sure: shit happens!

Yes, I know that my company is called “PositivityNOW” and I know that hordes of people expect me to be sugar-sweet and talk about sunshine and roses. The fact is that that kind of positive thinking leaves me stone cold. I am a realist. I have both feet on the ground and I have learnt that the best results are gained when reality is my starting point. And results are important in NLP, just as they are in your endeavors too.

Firstly, the central question in NLP is “What do you want?” and this can be surprisingly difficult to answer, probably because we aren’t used to the question. The second question is the one I absolutely love and it is “What can you do now?”
The essence of Positivity, for me, lies in these two questions” “What do you want?” and “What can you do now?”

You see, Positive Thinking is nice, but it’s Positive Action that gets results.

And that’s what we do during an NLP Practitioner: we DO. You can read books about NLP ’til the end of the world (but according to the Maya’s you’d better hurry up). You can learn information from the internet, it’s full of BS. But NLP only comes into its’ own, and takes on life, in the moment when you DO it. As I have said, it’s a toolbox and that’s why the PositivityNOW NLP training course is practical. You have to learn to use the tools. Only that.

One thing that has continued to haunt me in NLP-land is how much rubbish has been written and how many over-exaggerated promises have been made by Institutes. I would like to underline that not all Institutes are guilty on this count, but one or two have done the NLP name no credit at all. I think that is a dreadful shame because the NLP toolbox is one I can honestly vouch for. I have used the tools intensively to help myself recover from a crippling lack of self-esteem, and a chronic and deep depression. I continue to use the tools because NLP is not a magic cure. It doesn’t do anything on it’s own. The practitioner does. And my journey is not over yet. Thankfully!

So, where is NLP useful?

In short: everywhere! The NLP attitudes and tools are so central to our experience as humans that there isn’t an area of human endeavor where it can’t be used: at work, at home, with other people and on your own. Managers use NLP to understand and communicate more effectively with, and steer, their teams; coaches use NLP to help their clients; teachers use NLP to get through to their pupils; parents use NLP to motivate their children; entrepreneurs use NLP to get their heads aligned with their goals; children use NLP (often naturally) to achieve wondrous creativity to learn and to dream – and to play.

Who is NLP for?

In short: everybody! But to be more specific, here is a list of the jobs held by the people who have passed through my doors: DGA’s, entrepreneurs, managers, salesmen, coaches, trainers, IT support staff, social workers, teachers, nurses, people between jobs, political advisors (oh, yes, that was an interesting course…), scientists, writers, artists, mothers, fathers, project developers, engineers…. the list goes on.

Why bother doing NLP?

Because you are human. In the course of your life you have been programmed by all of your experiences. The chances are very high that one or two of your programs could do with an update. Whether you’re conscious of it or not, everything that has ever happened to you, around you, in you, has been stored in that amazing head of yours. Everything has been encoded and designed to make you who you are today.

But, are you all that you wanted to be? Are you experiencing the success which you suspect could be yours? And I don’t mean necessarily in money terms. Where do you hang yourself out to dry? More importantly, would you like to stop it and find out how you can present your more honest and stronger self to the world and go out and have some fun – and some success – instead? Just say yes.

PositivityNOW NLP offers NLP with both feet on the ground, or as I like to call it “Cut the Crap” NLP. I offer the essence of NLP, without the magic and without the incense. Instead with your head engaged and thinking, choosing and discerning, I urge you to wake up and become aware of your world. And take your place in it where you belong: central stage. Groups are mixed and business and private goals are all welcome. With NLP, it’s really all the same thing.
